A new research project looks to measure how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting mental health

The research brings together expertise from the University with that of the local councils, mental health services and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and will run for 18 months.

Dr Dianna Smith, Associate Professor at the School of Geography and Environmental Science is joining forces with Dr Thomas Richardson from the School of Psychology and Professor Nisreen Alwan from the School of Medicine.

It will also identify the best pathways for support for people struggling with both mental health and financial problems.

Dr Smith recently completed work looking at the areas of food deprivation across the UK alongside Professor Alwan.
